Hulu canceled Marvel’s MODOK earlier this month, and two of the core minds behind the animated series have already arrived at the next superhero. Tuesday, Dark Horse Comics revealed a new superhero comic called Minor threatswhich features scripts by comedian Patton Oswalt and his writing partner Jordan Bloom.
It houses a group store with a bunch of low-level villains, and Minor threats The world will begin with a four-issue mini-series that follows a team working to save reality entirely.
“All comic book fans dream of creating their own world,” Oswalt said of the comics in a press release distributed by The Dark Horse Company. “This is mine and Jordan. There is fun and danger and violence and sadness as in real life, but in brighter colors.
Oswalt and Blum collaborated together to write all four issues of the mini-series for the first time. Scott Hepburn did the artwork for the book, while Nate Pekos of BlamBot worked as the character.
“This is our love letter to superhero comics and crime fiction,” Bloom continued. “An underdog story about incompetent criminals dressed in uncertain clothes, trying to survive in an unforgiving city full of gods, the fall of the Kaiju, and the traffic causing time vortices. Crooks every day in a fantasy world trying to get their own.”
Hepburn added, “Working like this is why I’ve always wanted to be a comic book artist. Patton, Jordan, and I are in a one-man three-way battle to prove who loves this book the most.”
